Responding to an increasing demand for a dual-language immersion day-school with a curriculum mainly taught in German, a group of German and American parents, educators and members of the German-speaking communities in the Chicago metropolitan area founded German School Chicago (GSC) as an independent, not-for-profit pre-school through 12th grade school.

The School opened in 2009 with Pre-School (3- and 4-year olds). Now in its third your of operation, GSC has expanded to Kindergarten and 1st-3rd Grades. In successive years, grades will be added through 12th Grade.

While the curriculum is taught mainly in German, GSC welcomes all who are interested and committed to global learning. It is already fulfilling its vision of becoming a school and meeting place for students and their families from all nations
