Dear GISC Community,

    
I’m excited to introduce myself as the Counseling Resource Teacher, here to support the GISC community in cultivating a positive and supportive environment through social-emotional learning, mental health and anti-bullying initiatives. 

 

In my role, I collaborate with teachers to integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into the classroom. This includes developing skills such as empathy, self awareness and effective communication. Skills that students need to succeed both academically and personally. By maintaining close communication with homeroom teachers, we make sure that each student’s needs are understood and addressed. 

 

Another key aspect of my work is promoting and supporting our school’s anti-bullying efforts by leading training sessions or inviting guest speakers. I am dedicated to ensuring that every student feels safe, respected and valued, and I actively work with the school community to address and prevent bullying in all forms.

 

Parents, your involvement is a key part of our efforts. If you believe your child could benefit from extra support, whether it is for social-emotional growth, mental health concerns, or dealing with peer conflicts, the homeroom teacher is your first contact person – don’t hesitate to reach out to them. I will be in close contact with all of the teachers, and we will ensure we find ways to support groups or individuals. If I personally will begin working with your child, you will most certainly hear from me with an invitation to meet in-person.
