A Truly Unique Curriculum
GISC’s curriculum evolves from our school’s mission, preparing students to become well-rounded, creative, and responsible global citizens by providing them with a rigorous bilingual education in a supportive and individualized learning environment. To that end, GISC has created a completely unique curriculum, combining the most effective teaching philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB), the English Language Arts standards of the US Common Core, and the German curriculum framework of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The curriculum content at GISC combines the best of U.S. and German standards, while the delivery of the curriculum (the way we teach and learn) is shaped by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Students Who Love to Learn
GISC’s student-centered approach fosters intrinsic motivation, which is the best catalyst for continued academic growth. Our teachers design and conduct their lessons so that students take on agency for their own learning. Students are an integral part in driving their academic journey with their teachers guiding them forward.
Students learn in groups of varying sizes and individually. Groups can be multi-age, ability- or interest-based, determined by teachers, but also selected by students. Our goal is to develop independent and motivated learners, who take charge of their learning. Our teachers ensure that all students master the learning objectives and goals in each subject area.
Teachers Who Know Their Students
Our teachers know our students. Our low student-teacher ratio allows for intensive small-group teaching and learning, strong student participation and discussion as well as adherence to different learning styles by teachers. We also regularly have interns who work with students in small groups or individually. GISC teachers differentiate the teaching and learning according to individual student needs.
