Fall 2024 MAP Testing Results Are In!

Weekly Update from the Director - October 25, 2024
We are pleased to share comprehensive MAP testing data achieved by our 3rd through 8th grade students. Test results along with a detailed explanation and benchmark reports were released at the beginning of this week to our 3rd through 8th grade families. In the interest of sharing this information schoolwide, please see the following data points based on our most recent Fall 2024 MAP testing results.
MAP tests are best viewed on an individual basis with each family tracking their child’s results compared to previous years. Nonetheless, we share the following schoolwide data with all GISC families.
For those of you not familiar with MAP (Measuring Academic Performance) testing, please note that this testing tool employs adaptive technology, meaning the test questions become individualized for each student based on their responses – the testing mechanism is such that the test questions increase in difficulty (grade level benchmarks) if students consistently answer questions correctly; likewise the test adjusts to incorrect answers.
Lastly, please note that MAP testing is aligned with grade-level standards established by the U.S.-based Common Core curriculum.

Almost two-thirds of all student tests show above-average results. This year’s schoolwide performance represents an increase of 8 points as compared to the Fall of 2023.

Benchmark 2: Persistence/Student Growth
MAP testing also tracks a student’s growth from one testing cycle to the next. The following charts show the degree by which students either underperform, meet, or outperform when compared to expected growth rates.

At all the grade levels in each of the three testing areas of Math, Reading, and English, students consistently meet or predominantly outperform their projected growth levels. This signifies that students over time exceed expectations on this particular test.

Historically, GISC scores at the 8th grade level on average fall in the highest quartile (75th -99th percentile).
Please see the grade-level results – note that the 100% mark signifies the expected growth benchmark.

At the end of the school year, we will share more specific MAP data, incorporating our Spring 2025 results. This data will mirror benchmarks we have set in the GISC Strategic Plan under the rubric of Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Congratulations to everyone on these results and I wish you a restful weekend,

Ben Hebebrand
