How Re-Enrollment by March 15 Supports Excellence in Teaching and Learning
Weekly Update from GISC – Special Guest Edition – February 28, 2025 – By Dr. Inka Kirchenbüchler
Dear GISC Community,
As many of you know, I serve as the Director of Teaching and Learning at GISC, and part of my role is to ensure that we have the best possible educators and learning environment for our students in Preschool-8th grade. To do this, we need your help by confirming your child’s re-enrollment by March 15.
Because we are a German School Abroad, we rely on highly qualified German-speaking teachers in Preschool, Elementary School, and Middle school. Hiring these teachers is a process that starts now since work visas must be secured well in advance.
If we do not have a clear understanding of the size of each grade level by March 15, we face these two major risks:
The best teachers will have already committed to other schools when we see an additional need for teachers due to increasing re-enrollment numbers by summer.
New hires may not receive their visas in time for the new school year which leads to a less-than-smooth start to the school year and temporary solutions to bridge the gap until the teacher can join the team.
After March 15, we will accept and enroll new students. At grade levels where we will be near or at full capacity, we may not be able to accommodate additional students – this is why we also recommend that you return contracts by March 15 to secure your child’s spot.
By re-enrolling your child by the March 15 deadline, you allow us to plan effectively, secure top-quality teachers, and work toward the best interests of our students and their teachers, ensuring an overall smooth and successful start to the academic year.
Thank you for your continued support, and please reach out if you have any questions.
